I moved to a new computer and I am now using Visual Studio 2019 instead of 2015. When I try to open the form designed I get the message above. If I just run the program it runs and the spread is where it is supposed to be.

    Hi David,

Which Spread.Net version are you using?

Without actually seeing the project, it seems like this might just be a compatibility problem of old Spread version with the latest Visual Studio version. Make sure to take a look at the upgrade notes here for information on how to upgrade an older project: https://www.grapecity.com/spreadnet/docs/v13/readme/upgrade.html

Let me know if that helps.

    Regards,

The version of spread 13.45.20201.0 was not changed. It was working fine on the old computer and in VS2015. The problem arose when I copied the project to the new computer and opened it in VS2019.

Other behavior that I notice is that I cannot select the spread control when it is in a tablelayout panel.

I tried changing the legacy behaviors from ALL to None and I get the following error the next time that I try to open the form in the form designer.

Duplicate component name ‘BookProjectWeeklyActivity_Sheet1’. Component names must be unique and case-insensitive.

If I ignore and continue to see the form designer I get an “Error Saving Excel File” message when I try to save or exit visual studio.

I fixed the issue by removing all references with farpoint and grapecity and adding them back manually.

We’re glad to hear that the issue is resolved.
